Common-Sense Problem Solver
I ran for Congress in 2022 with a promise to represent the people of Long Island and Suffolk County above anything else, and I have kept that promise. While I am a proud Republican and Conservative, my constituents come first, and I will never apologize for that.
Bipartisan Solutions
In a time of political division—with Democrats controlling the White House and Senate, and Republicans controlling the House—negotiating and delivering bipartisan solutions can be challenging. I have aimed to be a common-sense problem solver in this environment, working across the aisle as a member of several bipartisan caucuses:
The Problem Solvers Caucus: Where every Republican member is paired with a Democrat counterpart, fostering collaboration to improve the lives of the American people;
The For Country Caucus: Composed of military Veterans committed to working across the aisle for the betterment of our nation;
The Long Island Sound Caucus: Which I co-chair, working to preserve and improve this vital natural resource and ecological system; and
Other Caucuses: Including the Climate Solutions Caucus and the SALT Caucus!
These caucuses have been on the front lines bringing meaningful solutions, including the bipartisan Defending Borders, Defending Democracy Act, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the Long Island Sound Stewardship and Restoration Act, the Plum Island National Monument Act, and more!
Putting Constituents First
There have been several times when I bucked my own party to prioritize the interests of Suffolk County and Long Island:
SALT Deduction: I rejected my party’s tax bill for failing to address the unfair State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction, which burdens Long Island families with New York's high income, property, and sales taxes.
Accountability: I supported the expulsion of a Member of my own party who did not meet the high standards we hold our elected officials to.
Jobs: I opposed a bill that would have slashed jobs in the energy industry on Long Island.
I am committed to working with anyone, regardless of party, to find common ground and deliver real results for Long Island and the American people.
