Having served in the Navy in the Pacific, I know firsthand that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) poses one of the greatest threats to our national security. The CCP's hostility toward freedom, democracy, and capitalism threatens American interests.

Holding China Accountable

Too many in Washington would seemingly rather cozy up to the CCP while turning a blind eye to corrupt trade practices and human rights abuses. In Congress, I have stood up to the CCP, supporting President Trump's America First Agenda to oppose China's unfair trade practices and promote American manufacturing. I also support efforts to hold the CCP accountable for withholding critical information during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Legislative Measures

I have supported countless measures in Congress to hold the CCP accountable and put America first. The Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was one of the strongest pieces of legislation against the CCP in decades. This NDAA ensures that if the United States goes to war with China, we will not only be prepared, but we will undoubtedly win. This legislation also reaffirms the United States' commitment to and support of Taiwan, prohibits the Department of Defense from contracting with businesses associated with the CCP, and counters its influence in the Indo-Pacific region.

I also supported the Indo-Pacific Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, which includes provisions to continue efforts to counter communist China, ensure strong deterrence in the region, develop submarine infrastructure, fund the Foreign Military Financing Program for Taiwan and other key regional allies, replenish defense articles and services provided to Taiwan, strengthen military capabilities in the region, and enhance the production and development of artillery and critical munitions.

Additionally, I have supported the Protecting America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve from China Act, a resolution condemning the CCP's use of a spy balloon, the No Dollars to Uyghur Forced Labor Act, Stop CCP Fentanyl Act, and a resolution denouncing the horrors of socialism, including in communist China.

As a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy and now as a Congressman, I will never stop the fight to protect the United States from our adversaries.
