WHO MAY APPLY FOR AN EARLY MAIL BALLOT?

Any registered voter may apply for an early mail ballot. Each person must apply for themselves. It is a felony to make a false statement in an application for an early mail ballot, to attempt to cast an illegal ballot, or to help anyone to cast an illegal ballot.

WHO MAY APPLY FOR AN ABSENTEE BALLOT?

All registered voters are eligible to receive an absentee ballot for the following reasons:

  • Absent from your county on Election Day.

  • Unable to appear at the polls due to temporary or permanent illness or disability.

  • Unable to appear because you are the primary care giver of one or more individuals who are ill or physically disabled.

  • A resident or patient of a Veterans Health Administration Hospital.

  • In jail or prison for any reason other than a felony conviction. This includes anyone who is awaiting grand jury action, awaiting trial, or serving a sentence for a misdemeanor.

Dates

Last day for BOE to RECEIVE application for an absentee ballot by application, letter, fax, email or using the online request portal for GENERAL ELECTION; Oct. 26th for new Military voters; Oct. 29th for previously registered Military voters.

Saturday, October 26

Last day to apply in-person at the BOE for an absentee ballot for GENERAL ELECTION. Go to the Suffolk BOE at 700 Yaphank Avenue, Yaphank, NY (Exit 67 on LIE). Call for BOE hours: (631) 852-4567.

Monday, November 4

Last day to postmark ballot. Must be received by the local board of elections no later than Nov. 12th. Military Voter Ballots must be received by BOE no later than Nov. 18th.

Tuesday, November 5

Last day to deliver ballot IN-PERSON to the local board of elections or to any polling site.

Early Voting

Early Voting has ended for the November 5, 2024 General Election.

Please vote at your regular polling place on Election Day: Tuesday, November 5 from 6:00am to 9:00pm.
